DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

The faculty of Commerce was started in 1973. The expansion of the faculty of Commerce and Business Administration took place with the start of M.Com. Classes in 1979 and also the number of teachers in the faculty increased up to 13.

The faculty of commerce is specialized in varied aspects of Commerce and Management like Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Taxation, Corporate/Business Laws, and International Business. Additionally, the department places emphasis on learning through projects, seminars, and workshops proving an enabling environment to help its students stand out academically and in shaping them to an overall balanced personality both in terms of the department's vision and today's competitive environment.

Presently, the Department of Commerce is marching ahead under the dynamic leadership of Head Dr. S. K. Sharma

• Dr. S. K. Sharma served as principal of K.A.(P.G.) College, Kasganj from 2009-2016.
• In the year 2019 new faculty members Dr. Deepak Kumar and Sh. Chandan Kumar Singh was appointed by the U.P. Higher Education Service Commission, Prayagraj.
• Undoubtedly, the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration has its special place in the field of Commerce education and research activities. At present, the faculty is a well-known and well-reputed figure not only in the University of Meerut but also in the western part of the state.

The period 2014 onwards embarked the academic glory for the department because many students of our department got Ist position and Gold Medals along with other positions in the university merit list in 2015,2016 and 2017 continuously. In 2018 and 2019 one student got the third position each year. In 2018, Dr. HimanshuAgarwal, Associate Professor in the department has been awarded D.Litt. degree in commerce by C.C.S.University, Meerut. Our students got a List position and Gold Medal in the university merit list of B.Com in 2015. In 2013, 2nd position and in 2015,3rd,4th,5th positions in University merit list of M.com and 7th position in B.Com were got by our students.

Sonam Agarwal and Pratibha Chaudhary joined the department as JRF in 2018. Rashid joined the department as JRF in 2019 and Shivali Vashisht joined the department as JRF in 2020.

Many of our students have qualified NET/JRF in the recent past. In 2014-15, our 2 students have qualified NET examination, in 2016 one student, in June 2017, one student, in December 2017 one JRF and two NET, in June 2018 4 students and in December 2018 attempt our 6 students have qualified NET out which 2 are studying in M.Com final year in 2018-19 batch.

From 2018-19, until December 2018 five students have given pre-submission seminar for submitting their thesis for the award  Ph.D. Degree in Commerce. Eight fresh students have registered for Ph.D. during 2018-19 under the supervision of faculty members of the department. Presently, twenty students are working for Ph.D. under the supervision of our faculty members. The Department has organized an international E-Conference on the topic "AATMA NIRBHAR BHARAT - Opportunities & Challenges" on 30th May 2020 ( LockDown Period ) in which more than 500 academicians, Research Scholar, and students took part.

The following courses are presently run by the Department:

Bachelor of Commerce ( B.Com.)
The Department offers the Bachelor of Commerce course. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills attitude, and aptitude to meet the challenges of modern-day business organizations. The curriculum of the B.Com degree provides a carefully selected subject combination of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Tax, Marketing, and Law. The program aims to nurture the students in intellectual, personal, interpersonal, and social skills with a focus on Holistic Education and development, to make informed and make ethical decisions, and equips graduates with the skills required to lead management positions. This program brings out reflective and scientific thinking in the students which makes them inquisitive and curious to get deep insights into the business world and tackle complex situations with much knowledge and wisdom.

Master of Commerce ( M.Com.)
The Department offers the Master of Commerce course. The Alumni are well placed in business, academics, and administration in the country and abroad. The program is well recognized by the industry and for years had been serving the needs of the managerial cadre in business and industry. The course serves the needs of academics as well and prepares students for research and teaching in business studies. Teaching is done at the Department of Commerce under the Faculty of Commerce & Business Administration of C.C.S. The University of Meerut. The department organizes classroom seminars for PG students every Saturday of the Week.

Research Center (Ph.D.)
Department of Commerce is an approved center of research for Ph.D. in commerce and management since the inception of the Department. Dr.S.K.Sharma, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Dr.Brijesh Kumar Agarwal, and Dr.Deepak Kumar have approved guides.
